In an inteview with the late Ted Robertson on the occasion of SCCA’s 50th Anniversary in 1994, Pete Hylton read him this quote that had appeared in SportsCar

“On looking back to that faithful gathering of seven enthusiastic owners of early Americana on that Saturday evening on 26 February 1844, one fact stands out quite clearly,……we didn’t know what we were doing.”
